The SR26 insurance form is simply a form that simply states that you no longer have a SR22 policy active with that specific insurance company. The SR26 can be filed for any of the reasons below -
- the SR-22 insurance period is over
- you have canceled the SR-22 policy on your own
- you failed to renew the SR-22 insurance policy after the grace period is over
If the SR26 is filed and you are still required to have a SR-22 certificate, the period starts over and will need to file another certificate for the next 3 to 5 years if you want to be able to have your driving privileges restored. Also, you will not be able to get you driving re-instated until you complete the requirement, so there is no getting around it.
